The Dilemma: Humor in Best Man Speeches.
I needed to write a best man speech for my brother. It can be difficult to write a speech with the proper tone, particularly for men who are not used to sharing their emotions with their family members much less an enormous room of friends and strangers alike.

The question is often: How much humor should I use?
Many people like to use humor to leaven an emotionally charged situation, and to symbolize the sort of jovial, friendly relationship they might have with the groom. However, it is key not to be cruel or to tell very embarrassing secrets. When I wrote a best man speech for my brother, I made certain to include a few light jokes in the beginning, but end on a heartfelt note, showing him how much I care and wishing him the best. Everyone at the reception thought it was beautiful.

So, you may initially find best man speeches as one of the most daunting tasks you have ever dealt with but when you start preparing for it, it’s only a metetr of time before the process gets easier.
